"Won't the new paint you put on my car look different than the old paint and as time goes on look even more off color?"

No. When we paint your car, we mix the paint per the formula that corresponds to the paint code tag attached to your car. The color produced from that mix may or may not match. When it doesn't, we change the color by adding different toners (colors) to do whatever it takes to make it look like the existing paint. As long as your car has not been repainted with an inferior paint product, our paint will match and weather just like your existing paint.

"Can I have my car fixed where I want?"

Yes, by law you are entitled to choose your own repair shop. Some insurance companies may "recommend" certain shops for various reasons, but most of them are realizing that leaving the choice up to the consumer works best for them and you.

"Why is the insurance estimate lower than the shop estimate?"

Estimates vary because estimators and their guidelines vary. For example, a new estimator, hired by an insurance company, with good data entry skills but no automotive experience can write and estimate. But it will be missing some of the labor hours because he/she does not know what to look for behind the primary damage and has no idea what it takes to correct certain unibody misalignment conditions. So, they leave the unknowns off the estimate and get together with the shop later when the vehicle is disassembled to catch most all the additional parts and labor.

A different estimator, say one who repaired cars for years before becoming an estimator, will see not just the obvious damage, but the secondary damage, the areas of unibody misalignment and have a good idea what it will take to correct these problems. His/her estimate will be much more complete and higher.
